Tune : Pete Murray - "Better Days"
Last update for a bit because I leave Brisbane early tomorrow morning (I have to catch a bus a little after 6am, ugh) and I won't have internet for a while. First I am 'stuck' on an island for a couple of days, then I am going sailing for a few days and finally I'll hit the rainforest. All sounds terrible, right? ;) Anyway, here's the last Brisbane recap.
March 7: Jaydeyn and I went to the City Hall. Arriving there we fell in the middle of some kind of Taiwanese health fair, that was random. But hey we got a little goodie bag with candy so that was nice.
City Hall is a gorgeous building from the inside, it was really beautiful. Especially the main hall which had a pipe organ! Unfortunately part of our view was blocked by stands from the fair though. We went up to the clock tower but the view nowadays is kinda disappointing. Too many skyscrapers to really see Brisbane well.
After that we went to the Museum of Brisbane, located in the same building, which was more an art gallery than a museum, really Lots of awesome pictures, paintings and statues were located there and we drooled over many a thing in the gift shop (but we were good and didn't buy anything!) Again randomly, we fell in the middle of some kind of event where a poet, writer and cellist performed in the museum. The poet was crap because I couldn't understand a word he was saying (people don't mumble in front of an audience!), the writer was awesome and the cellist was pretty good too.

I adored this piece <3

Random gorgeous cinema we came across
March 8: Was a lazy day again. Watching lots of TV and looking up info for the rest of my trip. Ah I am gonna miss these random days of doing nothing when I start working again.
March 9: I went to another theme park: Dreamworld. It was... ok. I really think Disneyland has spoiled me because I often compared the park with it throughout the day and it just wasn't as good. Less characters, less shows, no parade, less interesting rides (to me) and most of all it really lacked the atmosphere of the theme parks I enjoy so much.
I had high hopes for Dreamworld because most Australians I spoke to love it so very much, but it just didn't do anything for me. Might also be because the highlight of the park is supposed to be tiger island, which is two tigers. In Dutch zoos that's one of the most common animals so it was nothing to get excited about for me.
Having said that, the few rides I did go into were fun and overall it wasn't a wasted day or anything. Just less exciting than I had expected it to be.
Small selection of pictures can be found below, more HERE.

Obligatory character shots

One of the shows they did have was "Stories from Bikinibottom"

And another one was "Slime Time Live"

Tiger demonstration

March 10: We went to the Mt Coot-tha Botanical Gardens, which was great! Had an awesome tour guide who told us loads of interesting stuff and we smelled lots of interesting herbs and flowers and such. No time to write a lot about that today, so just have pretty pictures below!

Butterflies!

Guys who are gonna be in LA with me: this tree is apparently to be found loads around Disneyland because kids can't climb them (coz of those nasty thorns you can see)

The smaller ones are real

A turkey. In a tree

Japanese gardens

Cherries, nom nom nom

Pretty reflection in the water

This is what cacao is made of!

Date: 2009-03-16 08:06 pm (UTC)Owh, I tried to text you a few weeks back, but ermmm, that obviously didn't work out *sobs* Sorry about that. And thx for posting on my facebook! Sorry I didn't reply on there yet, I'm just not really good with facebook (it's even worse than LJ, so go figure haha)... I must say this tho, all my collegues can read your comment, as they are all listed as 'friends' on there and I'm not sure how they feel about me possibly quitting my job for that trip whaha. But let me tell you this. I do not give a d*mn anymore! Hate my job so much. Considering about quitting it and go to college or something next school year :) But of course I need money for that, that's one and second, I need to find a solution for my horse, so well... The plans are there, just need to figure it all out first. I just know one thing for sure, I do not want to work in a supermarket for the rest of my life!
Anyway, this is a very random quick update from my part. Sorry it's not much, but I hope you get to read it soon!
Enjoy your trip and I can't wait to hear all about it when we meet up in Holland again :D ;) hehe. Take care xxx

Date: 2009-03-20 01:35 am (UTC)Uhm I don't know what could've gone wrong? I'll give you my number again: 0061 4 5070 8518 OR +61 4 5070 8518
And here I thought you'd disappeared off the face of the earth :P Glad that isn't the case. I'll repeat what I say again: QUIT YOUR JOB! You can easily get that one or a likewise one back AFTER your holidays ;) Or just tell them you want/need those holidays and if they don't give it to you you'll quit. It might scare them so they'll give it to you :)
