Nickelback goodness

Note: because I am lazy and have no time to make an entire update, I am quoting two e-mails I have send the last days with my Nickelback experience, so the English and Dutch versions are slightly different...



[English]

I was standing front row, right in front of the stage. During the opening acts that was perfect (Live was awesome btw), but the minute Nickelback came up (opened with Animals ;) ) the fights around me started from all the peeps who were drunk and/or stoned, and that seriously was scary. I got smashed against the gate thingies at the front, people started to crowd surf, fight, etc. so I made my way back through the crowd asap. I stood about row 8, still great, but it sucks that a couple of idiotics must ruin the concert for some of us and/or literally making us move from the great spots we gained by showing up early. Now the music itself was of course awesome. And more. A lot of oldies, by far not every song from the new album, a big screen, great show with fireworks, flames and other spectacular stuff and a crowd of about 20,000 peeps.

Het concert was geweldig na het eerste nummer... De voorprogramma's (o.a. Live!) gingen prima maar zodra Nickelback op het podium kwam, braken er gevechten uit en was het niet meer uit te houden (eerste rij, recht voor het podium, was de beste plek voor maar liefst 2 seconden) dus ben ik een aantal rijen naar achteren gegaan. Was echt jammer, maar het was denk ik een "echt rockconcert" en dus zoals ik het nog nooit heb meegemaakt. Geen tienerpubliek zoals bij Di-rect & Simple Plan, maar 20+-ers/30+-ers die of stoned waren of gewoon "lol" hadden in illegaal crowdsurfen, vechten, etc. Was op zich wel jammer. Maar Nickelback is hier veel populairder dan ik ooit had gedacht (het gehele stadium vol, dat zijn 20.000 menzen ofzo) wat betekent dat de show ook vanaf rij 5 a 10 heel goed te volgen was (grote schermen etc) en wellicht ook wat prettiger want er was vuurwerk, vlammen, en meer spektakel dat het zelfs in mijn rij erg heet werd.

Um don't be sorryness about LMS ;) Tis all a-ok on my end, u know that :) I know you're just wanting to jump headfirst into it, that's all. I've got plenty to keep me busy, don't worry (a) including mass re-watching of Chris-Crossed now (ooh kinda forgot I had to do that LOL have just been running around with the transcript instead) and all those drabbles *-) and the original fic that won't leave me alone LOL I think I'm using the drabble thing as a shield to fend those ideas off in the meantime. I bet I'm gonna end up writing two fics at the same time 8-) Woe is me. Not that I've forgotten the one with El... but she's HPing it atm so...

LOL why do I continue to ramble in everyone's LJ comments? I suck. Should be working *goes back to look busy*

Ah, ik heb zeker vier van hun albums. En ik ben speciaal naar Pukkelpop [3-daags festival in Kiewit, Limburg] gegaan om hun optreden te zien - dat was in 2005, lang lang geleden.

Voor mij is het inmiddels ook alweer een paar jaartjes geleden. Ik hoorde dat ze binnenkort een nieuw album uitbrengen dus hopelijk wordt dat weer gevolgd door een concert tour :D Ik heb hier in Oz al 1 band gezien die ik in Canada ook heb gezien (Simple Plan, afgelopen vrijdag, ik heb nog geen tijd gehad om daar hier iets over te zeggen maar ik plaats altijd foto's @ angleofview).

Qua Canadese artiesten heb ik redelijk wat albums in the halen, zowel voor Nickelback als voor Alanis Morissette.

(mijn CD-rek is bijna vol, daar zal 't wellicht ook aan liggen. En alles wat ik via iTunes koop wordt vroeg of later op CD gezet. Er moest maar eens data verloren gaan - en dan vooral iets waar je voor betaald hebt.)

Canadese bands die ik gaaf vind (uit mijn hoofd): Simple Plan, Nickelback, Joel Plaskett, Great Big Sea, Sam Roberts... Ik weet zeker dat ik heel veel vergeet nu *-)

Ik koop geen muziek via Internet, ik wil liever de originele hoesjes enzo hebben als ik het koop.

Ik ken dat, ik koop toch nog steeds véél liever een CD dan via iTunes. Trouwens, je moet al aardig wat via iTunes gekocht hebben om niet het gevoel te krijgen dat je een CD-R aan 't verkwansen bent. (mijn persoonlijke minimum om te branden is 10 tracks)

En dan is het voordeel (meestal toch) van lyrics. Ik heb ze liever in booklet formaat dan ze te moeten googlen.

Simple Plan zijn ook van Canada? Misschien moet ik eens naar Imeem gaan, just checking it out.

Ik brand eigenlijk nooit CDs voor mezelf, alleen voor andren en dan altijd de max 20 tracks. Zelfs gebruik ik digitale muziek enkel voor mijn iPod en laptop.

Yup, en ze zijn awesome xD
